A huge end-of-year thank you to our supporters!

As January comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to thank our most incredible supporters. It comes as no surprise to note that 2020 was an incredibly tough year for charities and fundraising. With so many events cancelled, we had to rely on the determination, dedication, and innovation of our supporters to keep The Honeypot Children's Charity in action.

We are delighted to say that our community and corporate supporters did not let us down. Their loyalty has shone through and it is due to their willpower and grit, that Honeypot continues to thrive. Here’s a huge thank you to all our donors, large and small, including individual fundraisers from all over the country, dedicated community groups, generous corporates sponsors, and loyal trusts and foundations. You got us through a year of a global pandemic and ensured that thousands of young carers received the support they deserved. We would also like to thank the National Lottery for their generous Covid-19 emergency funding.

In November, we raised an incredible £110,000 in the Big Give Christmas campaign thanks to almost 400 individual donors and sponsors. This was an outstanding result (we never raised more than £20,000 in previous years!), which demonstrates the urgency and importance of our work, and the commitment of our supports to help us make a difference to the lives of young carers.

A special thanks goes to our trusts and foundations, who have been generous and supportive in many ways. We are immensely grateful for their flexibility and loyalty that helped us to continue being here for our children and provide innovative support services during Covid-19 in a safe and effective way.

Meet some of our supporters

Our community supporters have been an inspiration to all with their creative approaches to fundraising. We have had the pleasure of meeting Honeypot fundraisers of all ages, starting with Kaia, 8 years old, who has written a book called Luna and the Magical Piano. Her novel was published on amazon and she has very generously decided that all profits will come to Honeypot. We think the book is amazing and recommend it highly!  We also have Oscar, 16 years old, who has been supporting us since he was aged 10. Oscar ran a whole marathon on Christmas Eve, in a Santa Suit! He continues to raise awareness for Honeypot through school charity events, stalls and collection buckets and we are immensely grateful for his ongoing support.

Steve is another community supporter that has showed great determination and enthusiasm, setting himself the challenge of running 1000 miles over the course of the year to help raise significant funds for Honeypot. He completed his 1000th mile on Christmas Day - what a way to celebrate!

Kaia, 8, proudly presenting her first Amazon publication, with all royalties going to Honeypot. We are SO proud of you.

Our Corporate supporters also dug deep for us, turning all of their fundraising events virtual (a challenge in itself!). From runs and cycle challenges, to quizzes, cooking classes, bake offs, photography competitions and auctions. And of course by taking part in our annual Santa Dash. We couldn’t be more grateful for their ongoing support and imagination in conjuring up ways to fundraise for Honeypot.

A heartfelt thank you as well to Bank of America for an incredible two-year partnership over 2019 and 2020. Their support and generosity were truly astounding. We will miss having them as a corporate partner, but know we will keep in touch!

And a special shout out to all corporates who participated in this year’s Santa Dash, persevered through lockdown blues and endured the cold weather. This includes SMB, Zaizi, St George, Friends of Abercorn and Amadeus. One of our SMB fundraisers said : “The benefits of getting involved speak for themselves but as well as raising money for Honeypot, taking part in or hosting a fundraiser gives you, and those around you, something positive to focus on during these difficult times. The desire to get involved was to give the charity, and the kids they look after, an end of year boost after a challenging year.”

From everyone at Honeypot, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their generosity and commitment to us.

Next year will be a special year for us as we’ll be celebrating our 25th anniversary. We look forward to a year of events and celebrations, and are excited to see what fun we can all have in fundraising for young carers. Watch this space for more updates!
