International Women's Day
Today we are celebrating International Women's Day and all the amazing women who work, support, and benefit from Honeypot.
We are incredibly lucky to see many young carers at Honeypot grow in confidence, and resilience and build the self-belief they can achieve anything they want, building a brighter future.
At Honeypot we believe in a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.
We wanted to celebrate the contribution of Women to The Honeypot Children’s Charity.
Leah-Rose - yOUNG CARER
There is no better story to share than Leah-Rose’s relationship with our female team members at our Welsh House.
Aged just 7 Leah helps care for her Mum Sally, who has multiple seizures a day. She has been caring for Mum since birth and helps with everything from opening wrappers, and mobility to aiding her in getting changed. She is a major emotional support and always there when Mum needs her, her rock! Her relationship with Honeypot staff members Tangie, Nikita and many others inspired Leah-Rose to make friends, try new things and most importantly feel special.
Simmi WOODWAL - ceo
We have had a female CEO here at Honeypot for over 16 years, since joining in 2008 she has successfully pioneered for Honeypot expanding our services to meet the changing needs of carers, plus opening 2 new houses making Honeypot accessible to disadvantaged children all over the UK.
Lucy - Young Carer
Lucy helps her family care for her younger brother and has joined Honeypot on multiple Respite Breaks in Pen-y-Bryn. You can support her book here.
CATHLEEN DOWDING | WELLBEING COORDINATOR
Cathleen has helped Honeypot in all aspects from fundraising events like Brannfest to fulfilling the hundreds of amazing Wellbeing Fund applications to help disadvantaged children across the UK. She is an absolute asset to everyone in the Honeypot team!
VIV CARTER - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER HAMPSHIRE
Since joining in 2017, Viv’s impact in Hampshire has been phenomenal, from organising the Annual Garden Parties in the Summer, Christmas Carol Concert’s and building the many amazing relationships of funders who support Honeypot’s work in Hampshire.
Most of the members of the Honeypot Team are women..
Most members of the Senior Leadership Team of Honeypot are Women. Our Services Team, Finance Team and Fundraising Team.
At least 50% of young carers accessing Honeypot’s respite breaks and other services are female too.
Honeypot … an organisation where women are truly empowered to lead!
Wishing everyone a Happy International Women’s Day!
