Bumble's Bake-off

In honour of The Great British Bake-off finals last night, Honeypot held their very own virtual Bumble Bake-off workshop at the weekend!

For young carers, the pandemic has had a monumental impact on their ability to socialise and escape from their daily caring responsibilities.

Through our virtual workshops, we are able to offer an immersive experience to our Honeypot children, let them take a break from their usual routine and enable our children to engage with other young carers who share a similar experience with them. Our creative sessions aim to bring fun and colour to their lives and allow children to simply be just that - a child.

What better way is there to get into the festive spirit than making homemade biscuits! In this week’s virtual workshop, our team leaders Nikita and Kirsty taught young carers how to become a culinary wizard by ensembling their edible masterpieces.

Prior to the workshop, parents of young carers were sent the recipe for the baking extravaganza. In the workshop, each young carer followed the recipe instructions, weighing out their ingredients and combining them together. Once their biscuits had turned a golden brown colour in the oven, Honeypot children moved onto the best part - decorating! Using an assortment of different icing colours, sprinkles and decorative baubles, the children set about layering their biscuits. The outcomes were amazing.

Next came the guessing game "What biscuit is this?’ for which Honeypot children were shown close-up images of biscuits, which they then had to dispher and guess what it was. Great fun was had by all in this quiz and it certainly made them hungry!

She has had a really lovely morning, thank you so much. I have to say, the biscuits are going down a treat!
