Honeypot Christmas Carol Concert Raises Over £10,000
Over 350 people attended the annual Honeypot Christmas Carol Concert at Romsey Abbey on 4 December, raising over £10,000 for young carers!
The Funky Little Choir Co brought a splash of colour and lifted the roof with their contemporary vocals, and the children of King Edward VI Preparatory School choir brought joy to our hearts. We had live music from local harpist Amy Pritchard, who also works at Honeypot as part of our Children’s Services team, and jazz saxophonist Ben Carter, accompanied by Kirsty Purves on piano.
Colin Hobbs once again was a super MC. Other speakers included John Lay-Flurrie’s reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, and Richard Porter talking about his journey with Honeypot and walking around the UK, demonstrating to the audience that a challenge linked to a worthwhile cause can benefit, not only the individual, but many children and families along the way.
As a moving reminder of why we were all there, a former Honeypot parent, Sue Nash, spoke about how both she and her daughter Kirstie (now aged 30) benefited from Honeypot’s services and the lasting impact of our support.
Many thanks to all involved: guests, performers, speakers, volunteers, and sponsors, including our headline sponsor Selwood Ltd, Harvest Fine Foods for providing mince pies, and other sponsors Scott Bailey LLP, Fairweather's Garden Centre, Breckenridge Agency, and Luminique Events.
All helped to make a truly memorable evening, raising £10,700 - enough funding to support a respite break for more than 20 young carers. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
