How our biggest corporate partner turned events virtual
Covid-19 has brought many challenges to charities in 2020. With events cancelled and social distancing in place, one challenge we were facing was how to turn our biggest corporate partnership with Bank of America into a virtual relationship. Georgie, one of our corporate partnership managers, explains how we did it, from virtual runs, to Mohawk haircuts and Bumble bake-offs.
2020 marked the second year of our partnership with Bank of America, we had a busy year of events planned with them. Marathons, Dragon Boat Racing, spinathons, family fun days. Everyone was really excited to make this second year even better than the first, and go the extra mile to support young carers. Then March came, the lockdown and all our event plans had to be cancelled or creatively re-thought. The one thing no one doubted was that we have to continue to be there for our young carers. Now more than ever.
I can’t praise the teams at Bank of America enough; all have been amazing at adapting our planned events into virtual initiatives.
Their spring quiz was quickly turned into a virtual quiz pack that they could download to play with colleagues, family and friends. The Bank’s Running Club re-designed all summer running events into a collective virtual runathon challenge.
People logged their miles running virtually from Chester to Charlotte in the US, 3,870 miles in total! We organised sponsored virtual cooking classes, virtual exercise classes, portrait competitions, cycle rides and virtual Bumble bake-offs.
We even had one colleague who took advantage of working from home to dye his hair blue and cut it into a Mohawk style (a teenage ambition!) all in aid of sponsorship for Honeypot’s young carers.
Looking forward the teams are not giving up on our young carers, with virtual exercise challenges, quizzes and auctions all lined up before Christmas.
This incredible two-year partnership sadly comes to an end in December 2020. Bank of America have been wonderful committed supporters of Honeypot throughout and we cannot thank them enough. We are always looking for other corporates to partner with. If you are interested, please get in touch, we would love to see how we can mutually support each other.
